Whats the object moving just underneath the oil breather on the rocker cover when you raise the rpm? @ 47:25
I know it’s ridiculous but I held my breath the whole time that spring was under tension.
Makes me think which of the currently produced goods will be chased after in 68 years from now. And I think I know the answer, unfortunately.
Absolutely painstakingly watching you compress that spring. I jumped when the oil squirted out, I thought it was the spring taking out your skull! Nice job once again!
Beyond Thunderdome...brilliant...😂
Of all my many RUclips subscriptions, you're channel is by far the best. Best 43 minutes ever. Pure gold...😅
Fantastic attention to detail (as always) great video 🇬🇧
I think I bought one of the original last complete steering relays from Blanchard's.
Less talkie... More walkie
Sending it to the zinc platers? Why not electroplate it yourself like you did previously? Like you did with your misc hardware?
It’s too big
@@CROKERvsRover heh
@@CROKERvsRover In all seriousness, that makes sense. I'd assume the zinc solution is pretty expensive for that much volume as well?
Ah, good ol' sh1tpart....
Stupid question, but is this relay just a shaft with 90 degree offset arms on either end? What does the spring do? Honestly don't care what the content is, your videos are the perfect blend of entertainment and education, with a hearty dose of job satisfaction, all while I sit on the couch. Please don't ever stop creating
Did you get round to the inner axle seal?
What inner axle seal?
Phenomenal work yet again. Video production was an all time high. Great music and camera work. Hilarious antics and the things you say are always beyond enjoyable. The only downside, we have to wait awhile until your next video creation and that is always hard to do. Thanks so much for this video and all past ones too.
I'm 105kg, you should have just asked and I'd have popped over from Scotland to sit on the spring for you.
yay kicking back after dinner with geoff pottering on the landrover in the shed life is good keep em coming geoff
Strong work! I enjoyed your video, as always.
Physics at 38:48 : *Wake up Geoff*
Now, now....lets call a spade a spade. Viva la Toyota - Land Cruiser FJ!🐞
Just so good, your land rover set of videos has entertained me so much, I’ve learnt a bunch of stuff too, thankyou so much. Please do another series 😎🤣🤣
Im sorry i made fun of your project taking as long as it is. Please dont disapear.
Love it
So what’s the purpose of that extraordinary complex relay? After 43min and 20sec I still don’t understand why there’s a spring in that thing.
Adds resistance to the steering. Otherwise the wheel would flop around.
ENGAGE THE SAFETY SACK
Superb!
That spring install was terrifying lol
Do you do home anodising too? I cant remember if you’ve done a video on that? I was slightly surprised you didn’t do something to protect that lovely retainer plate.
Geoff is a total legend!
Always a good day when Crocker posts a video
Discovered this at part 20!! Time to begin at the beginning and say goodbye to my weekend.
Are the relays the same for Forward controll? Steering box has a different FC specific ratio.
Excellent video again Geoff…..brilliantly resourceful demonstration of what is without doubt one of the most difficult jobs on a Series! Thank you!
Yep - every rebuild I've done. Loved it. Thanks
Another video smashing it out of the park Kiwi. Love your work when you are not using hammers.
This episode would be a big hit down at the Army bomb squad. They at least can handle the tension! 😅
this issue with cheap chinese parts is the same as it has always been. china will make whatever you pay them to, at any quality. poor parts are entirely down to the reseller who orders and QCs the parts. in order to maximise profit (because that's the hypercapitalist economic disaster we currently live in, where 'profit first' is the absolute guiding principle) the reseller will order, and resell, the cheapest possible part, for the most money they can. the ignorant people who then moan and cry about 'chinesium' are the same people who won't, or can't (often through no fault of their own but that's a whole different discussion), pay for better parts.
You can't push down with 100kg of force if you don't weigh more than 100kg.
I saved this video for Friday night with a glass or 2 of red , exceptionally entertaining for mechanical mind . Thanks for sharing cheers from oz
BA is used by model engineers, so visiting a local club should yield some bolts
Therapeutic. 😜 Great videos. 👌🏻
Why didnt land rover didnt use a sttering box beats me
Are ba spanners imperial or whitworth or is ba ba spanners. I think ive used imperial on old landies and whitworth
....weve been here befor havent we mr croker
I was really hoping you were going to use filler on the housing exterior, sending some of us into spasms of disgust!
The steering relay also does some damping - I know, cos mine was out of oil and it had the weirdest reactions to bumps. Worst was driving across a railway crossing that was slightly angled, at about 50 km/h, which lead to the steering wheel oscillating and whipping back and forth faster and faster. I had to hands-off the wheel and brake till everything calmed down at 20 km/h. Terrifying for me and the passengers. Also need to add just how faffing old the British Association (BA) system is; it literally dates from steam engines.
I’m a big fan of BA. Mostly the fact that it’s metric!
The most epic lathe music ever😊
That was a tense watching experience!
Had a mate fab up a jig with some booker rod like a car spring compressor. Those zipties had me on edge! Great video as always crocker!
Another amazing Crocker vs Rover episode!
Not that it would have made a huge difference but it seemed like you were using the first spring compressing tool upside down
